Dedicated volunteers and professionals from Synagogues and Jewish community organisations have been launching and supporting effective initiatives offering aid and assistance to asylum seekers, refugees and the homeless. These include Drop In Centres, winter shelters, providing food, clothing and guidance to families and individuals, as well as political action directed toward improving conditions for these people.
We invite congregants, volunteers, teachers, professionals, lay and religious leaders who share our concern for the most vulnerable to join us for this event. On offer will be an afternoon of substantive, practical workshops addressing, for example, how to open and manage a Drop in Centre and how to help bolster the political movement for justice for refugees.
Sessions will be led by those doing this impressive work across the community.
- How to run a winter homeless shelter and/or offer alternative support for homeless people
- How to set up a drop-in centre for asylum seekers
- Developing therapeutic support by working in partnership with those we are supporting
- Campaigning for systemic change
Lunch and light refreshments will be provided (all kosher).
This conference is being organised by representatives from different synagogues and Jewish organisations working to develop Drop In projects within their communities. These include;
