Pears Institute for the study of Antisemitism in collaboration with the Jewish Council for Racial Equality

This collaborative event marks the 50th anniversary of the UK’s first Race Relations Act. Three scholars working in this field reflect on the history of race relations law in the UK and offer their perspectives on what has been achieved, and looking forward, what still needs to be done:

  • Dr Camilla Schofield, University of East Anglia - History of ‘race relations’ and the Race Relations Acts

  • Dr Anastasia Vakulenko, University of Birmingham - Muslims, Jews and the Law

  • Dr Omar Khan, Runnymede Trust - Racial Equality in the 21st Century

These short talks will be followed by questions and answers and a general discussion around the issues raised.

This event is part of Birkbeck's Social Sciences Week 2015.
