Rene Cassin and Right to Remain Asylum Workshops
Want to know more about the asylum process and how you can get involved with supporting people going through it?
Join Right to Remain and Rene Cassin for two sessions exploring all things asylum related.
The policies and procedures of the UK's asylum system are increasingly complicated, with many people forced to navigate them alone, unable to access free legal advice and representation. These procedures can exclude people from accessing justice, and can mean that people are denied their rights and denied protection in the UK.
This workshop will give an overview of the asylum process, the barriers that people face in pursuing their legal case, and ways that we can support people through the system.
When: April 4th and April 11th, 6.30pm until 9pm Where: JHub, 152 West End Lane, London, NW6 1SD What:
The two sessions will cover:
- The different routes into and through the asylum system: arrival, applying for asylum, dispersal accommodation and support, interviews, reporting requirements, detention, decisions and determinations.
- The legal rights and options for people seeking sanctuary: legal aid, representation, advice and information; the key stages in the legal process, and how preparation and support can make a difference. The sessions are free and a light dinner will be provided. Spaces are limited and will be given on a first come first serve basis, so e-mail email@example.com to reserve a spot
